Beware - Fraudelant Charges - Digital Age 888-529-98 Cyprus

Just was checking my PayPal Debit MC and saw a $24.99 charge that went thru last week - as "DIGITAL AGE 888-529-98 CYPRUS"

I called paypal...and he couldnt give me much more info...it is only a partial ph#...and if I dial the "CY" as the last 2 digits of the phone # - I get a busy signal or fax machine noise.....
while on the phone with the PP rep...we both did a Google search at the same time and saw the SEVERAL posts about Fraudulant Charges from this company......so I disputed it right away - I had him cancel my Debit card.....(bummer!!) and they have to send paperwork to dispute the charge to get it put back in my acct...

I was trying to figure out which company got hacked - and got our CC info??

Check all you accts.....and dispute it immediately!! Looks like it shows up the same on everyones statement"

I had that too against my Fifth Third Bank VISA for $24.99. I called VISA to ask who Digital Age was and what their phone number and address was and they couldn't tell me (this is protection when they can't even tell us who they pay money to?). Anyway there was another one from some logo company that was $9.99. They had a phone number and I called and was put in to voice mail. Of course no one returned my call. I cancelled my VISA and sent in a fax disputing the two charges but haven't heard anything yet about it. Am waiting for a printed copy of all my VISA charges to find out if there are any more bad ones on there.

good luck getting your paypal back after this. I had fraudulent activity on my paypal at one time for 1 charge of 300.00, and 2 for 49.99. I disputed, had emails from paypal acknowleging it was fraudulent etc.. After getting restitution from my bank, and 6 months later, I decided I would do paypal again, given how convenient it was.

They said sure, we'll re-open, just pay us the 300.00!!!

Needless to say, my reply was just 2 words...

Just my 2 cents, and why I hates Paypal.

I just called my bank because there was a $24.99 charge to Digital Age with the same #.. Now I have to close my card and wait 7 to 10 days for a new one. They have to wait for the charge to go from "on hold" to posted before I could get anymore information on this. The only thing I remember buying out of the ordinary, was that memovies thing.

I, too, bought the MeMovies thing.....I hope I don't find the same thing on my debit. Grrrrrr. Calling now.

Im sorry for those of you that have fraudulant charges, reading this post made me go check my paypal account and thank goodness I don't have any. I hope everyone who reads this checks thier accounts too and maybe as a group can do something to get to the bottem of it

OK, get this. I called my bank and THANKFULLY no charge from them, BUT she said that she just got off the phone with others who have been hit with this charge!! Mine is a small bank so this was a surprise to me. Must be pretty widespread, wherever it came from!!

I would be tempted to call MeMovies and ask if they know if perhaps they'd been hacked. Maybe they have and don't even know it!!!!

They put an alert on my account, just in case, but I'll keep checking back. Good luck to those of you affected.

Just a note: I checked back over the thread for MeMovies and noticed that the OP of this thread also bought one!!!

I did order from Memovies.....
but I really dont think it was from them....if you google:

You get a ton of people that have had these charges....none of which I am sure have ever heard of Memovies..........I think it is more widespread.........
I have used this same card for Virgin Mobile automatic top off (on my sons prepaid phone) too....and Hydroderm....and Fed Ex , QVC and HSN.

Hard to say??
