Thank you for posting this. You can never have too much information on this serious condition.
My son does - but thanks to a lot of help early on he is very high functioning and has a great outlook for the future.

I have a nephew that is now 9 with Autism he is very smart and we work with him. So does his school he does sign and doesn;t speak yet. We pray that he will one day speak to us. I know in my heart that he will speak soon. He tries so hard.
Angelkisses - it will all pay off one day. My son does things I never thought he would do! He is going to high school next year and I know he will do great (he is very excited). Never give up. Remember, if God leads you to it he will lead you through it.
PM me any time you have questions or just want to talk. Other parents and caregivers are who I have received the most information from over the years. You can go to doctors - but I have found that sometimes we the parents know more than they do!![]()
~~Thanks~~
If you are visiting Build a Bear - until the end of the month - you can buy a special purple heart and they will donate proceeds to one of the autism groups (not sure which one, on website). So if you are building a bear in the next few days get a special purple heart! The build a bear email mentioned a special bear which I am going to check out tomorrow. My son's birthday is in May and I was thinking about getting him one and dressing it up in a Tony Stewart race outfit (nuts for Nascar he is).![]()
Have a good day everyone!
Thank you! My wonderful, handsome 5 yo DS has autism, and while he still struggles with many things and has a pronounced disability, he has come so very, very far. He communicates with us now, he is in mainstream preschool, he interacts with us and others, things I was very scared would never happen. He also has impluse control disorder, anxiety versus obsessive compulsive disorder, a clinical sleep disorder, and severe behavior issues (many of which he has overcome!! There is so much hope with hard work)
We are fortunate to have an awesome developmental team, but we struggle with the school district on many issues,as well as fear and assumptions from many, including family and friends. My husband and I stay on top of everything, stay educated, and try and pass that on to others. Being an educated parent is crucial.
Autism is such a mystery! Perhaps one day we will solve the puzzle![]()
