Angry Coupons not scanned at checkout

Okay, I am a bit peeved. Went to Rite Aid and they were having a sale on makeup. I stocked up because I had all these $2.00 off coupons. AFTER I left the store I started thinking that the total didn't sound right. I look at my receipt and the cashier didn't scan the coupons. She only scanned about 75% of what I gave her. Geez! Good luck proving it after you leave the store. This is the third time in two months I have had this happen. I guess I am going to have to be really careful watching from now on.

Kokomo,

I feel your pain and frustration. That's happened to me numerous times. I honestly feel jipped because I took the time to cut and plan for coupon usage and somehow at Eckered, RiteAid and Walgreens it seems to happen that my legitimate coupons were not all scanned. If I have no recourse, I just resign to get them back next time and trust that the truth will prevail. I tried emailing them about their apparent register problems to no avail. Hope you fare better next time.

I would go to the store and see if you can get the money back. I have had to do this before, and sometimes you get lucky. One time I went to Kroger for a big shopping trip, and then the next day they started a surprise Super Doubles (up to $1) weekend. I went to Customer Service and asked if they could give me the money for the coupons that would have doubled (this was about $10). At first they said no, but I had brought all the items for those coupons with me and I said, "OK then I guess I will just return these and buy them again since I have extra coupons." The CS guy decided that it would be easier to just give me the money for the double coupons. I was very nice and he was willing to do something for me that they don't normally do. Granted most people probably wouldn't have asked........ But hey, $10 is a lot of money off my grocery bill. So I guess the moral of the story is that it doesn't hurt to ask. Also it doesn't hurt to bring the items that coupons were not scanned for to the store with you. They definitely shouldn't have a problem giving you a refund for the items. It sure is irritating when all your coupons aren't scanned! HTH

I have started to scotch tape the coupon to the item I am purchasing, as it goes in my cart. When I get to check out...the clerk scans the item, then removes the coupon and scans that too.
I have never had a checker complain...and they don't have to ask....did you buy this?

Well, I ended up taking the make up back. I'll go buy it again in a day or so with the coupons again. I did find out something about Rite Aid, if you return an item within a day or so of buying it they have to give you your coupons back that you used and only give you the difference back. After a couple of days they send them off to be reimbursed and then they will give you the full purchase price back.

this happens to me ALL the time!
how frustrating!!

well, 2 weeks ago I went to Target and realized that they didnt scan 8 $1 coupons when i got home.
I called the store, told them what happened and the manager went to the cashiers draw and pulled them out for me!!!
The next morning i went back with my receipt and got my $8 back!!

now, that's great customer service!!!!

I LOVE TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!
