I remember when we were young teens messing with Vivarin etc., and shaking........the site even gives doses for "children over 12" - I cannot believe it would not advise against that............and what reason would a 13 yr old possibly have to take vivarin lol.....
I like how they call it "functional caffeine"...if its "just like a having a coffee or pop (soda) - why even buy it then lol......and they say it helps your "mental alertness" lol. SITE INFO.. The only active ingredient in Vivarin is caffeine. Vivarin has been recognized by the FDA as a safe and effective way to help keep you mentally alert and focused. It's just like having coffee or soda. Dosage: Adults and children over 12 years can take one Vivarin, about every four hours. One Vivarin can help an average person maintain mental alertness and focus for approximately four hours. Individual results can vary depending on such factors as age, weight, and tolerance to caffeine. Package instructions should be followed. Vivarin consists of caffeine and nothing more, it's just like having coffee or soda. It's still important, however, that you follow the directions on the packaging for correct dosage. Caffeine can cause side effects when over-consumed, resulting in nervousness, restlessness, and rapid heart rate. Too much caffeine can cause nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, and occasional rapid heartbeat. For this reason, if you're taking Vivarin, you should also be limiting your use of caffeine-containing medications, food, or beverages. Vivarin contains caffeine and only caffeine as its active ingredient. Most coffees and sodas contain caffeine, and Vivarin is recognized as being just as safe as coffee or soda. Caffeine is also found in foods like chocolate and cocoa. So if you're looking for mental alertness and focus without the calories and sugar associated with common foods and drinks, Vivarin offers a safe, functional, convenient alternative to the caffeine in your diet. It says : Safe and Effective: Each Vivarin tablet contains 200mg of caffeine, which is approximately the same amount in one cup of coffee. The caffeine in Vivarin is just as safe as coffee or soda. However, as with any over-the-counter product, it's important to use Vivarin according to package directions. They say lol - APPROX the same amount as one cup coffee (vivarin ia 200mg) -they even have list at site that says coffee starts at approx 130 mg or less lol......... and pop on list says 36-46 mg lol. Below you'll find a list of caffeinated foods and drinks that may appear in your diet. Vivarin (one tablet) 200 mg Typical Drinks Fresh Brewed Coffee (16 oz. cup) 130-240 mg Fresh Brewed Cappuccino (16 oz. w/ 2 oz. shot) 60-100mg Fresh Brewed Espresso (2 oz.) 60-100 mg Instant Coffee (16 oz. cup) 120-170 mg Caffeinated Energy Drink (8.3 oz. can) 80 mg Highly Caffeinated Colas (12 oz. can) 55-72 mg Cola (12 oz. can) 36-46 mg Cocoa Beverage (8 oz.) 3-32 mg Chocolate Milk (8 oz.) 2-7 mg If your looking to just help yourself stay awake a little bit to get thru the day I would suggest a coffee or pop (soda)...if your looking to "ZING" your way thru the day you might do better just buying street speed lol..... if you do take it - do not add ANY caffeine products at all to your day ...stay safe ![]() (they ALSO claim at site that Caffeine is NON-addictive lololol. I am a recovering alcoholic of 10 yrs and an addict to anything I allow myself to do in life ---- I am addicted to my Mountain Dew....heck once I was addicted to "ordering by mail" - freebies (my safe addiction) saved me and our pocketbook lol --so yes...from an addict--ITS addictive, do not let them fool ya lol) Last edited by bboop123; 09-26-2004 at 08:55 AM. |

I agree when I was in college I took vivarin to keep "alert" during the long crash study sessions. Unfortunately the combination of the vivarin, coffee and soda sent my system into shock. My heart was racing, I was sweating... NOT a pleasant experience. Just if you are a caffiene junkie, take it easy with this stuff. Caffiene is nothing to mess with
