OCTOBER Shopping Brags

Guess I will start this thread....

BiLo - on sale TicTacs: 2 for $1

Used the 0.55/2 coupon, which the store doubled and got all 14 packs of TicTacs for tax only. No, the store's cash registers no longer allow overage from coupons.

Coupons have me spoiled rotten!!!
That's the brag..the rest was not so cool.
I went to Aldi (no coupons allowed) to get some winter stock up items for Mother and I that I never or rarely get coupons for. Total was over $40. I nearly fainted. I am not used to that kind of ending total at all!! I'm glad I only go there once a year for non-coupon items like cheaper real vanilla!

How do non-couponers survive grocery shopping??????

Hi,
How do you all get multiple coupons? Do you get lots of Sunday papers? Trade? Buy?
We're living near NYC on my husband's army pay so I can use any help you can give!

Hi Lydia, I'll be happy to answer your question (as best I can).

The best way (I feel) is to get multiple FULL inserts because you never know what type of deal is out there waiting for you! I can't tell you the times that I have cut out coupons thinking that I would never use them since the product was so expencive & I ended up getting it for pennys or free.

If you get the paper delivered, see if your paper lady will give you extra's, but keep in mind that she might get in trouble for that.

You can also have all your friends & co-workers save them for you. I heard of one lady that puts out a basket of items on her desk & whoever brings in the inserts gets to choose something out of the basket each week.

My paper lady stopped delivering & I don't work so I get one set a week from the delivery & one from my husband's job. The rest I have to pay for now . I pay around 30c per insert, but they pay for themselves +++

We live on a limited income ourselves, but couponing has allowed me to give to charities such as food banks & collections for our soldiers overseas. It seems that the more I give away the more I get for free Hope that helped!

Thanks for the tips! But who do you pay for inserts?

I get Sunday coupons from my paper and a big city paper. My local paper has my grocery inserts but a very thin set of coupon inserts and my Chicago Trib has the good coupons. Big city papers have the best coupon inserts.

My neighbors and relatives give my coupons they aren't going to use.

YES, we pay Handeling fees to services and we trade with other couponers via snailmail.

Also we watch the shelves in the store for manufacturer coupons on pads or in little boxes stuck on shelves (For example the 12 Red Gold coupons I used above were in a little Mfg box on the shelf right in front of the Red Gold products)

Also watch packages for manufactureres coupons stuck on packages (For example the 5 coupons I used above on the Home Pride bread were stuck/taped on the 5 package of bread)

Also wander down the booze asile in your store. You'd be suprised how many diff booze manufactures stick pads of coupons on the shelf and those coupons are not for booze. (For example the $1 off any baked goods coupons and the 55¢ off any pasta coupons that I used above came from just such tear off pads in the booze asile.)

Also there are hang tags. Hang tags are little tags hanging on the bottle neck of a product. Well, booze manufactures (mainly manufacturers of wine) often put hang tags on the bottles and on those hang tags are coupon for realy nice freebies like $1 off meat and they even state no wine purchase necessary.
However there is debate amoung couponers as to weather it is ethical to take a wine hang tag without buying the bottle of wine. I'm not getting into a debate on it, just telling you the coupons exist.

And there is what people call Diveing (well I din't know how to spell that) Which is basically obtaining coupon inserts from newspaper recycle bins.

Some people are really lucky and find a convience store willing to give them the left over inserts after the Sunday sale date for the papers is overwith.

Some say they go to reastraunts or fast food places on Sunday and look on the tables for newspapers others have read and left on the tables to be thrown away.. and they take the inserts out of them.

Some newspaper delivery persons will actually give you thier left over inserts if you happen to know such a person.

Hope gives you some ideas as to how you can obtain multiples.
