Free pillow at SleepNumber store
We were at the mall today and decided to try a Sleep Number bed. As it turned out -- the woman said that everyone who tried it today recieved a free pillow (she said each was a $30 value(?).

OK I way feel cheated. I acutally bought the bed. All I got was a lousy T shirt for my DH to wear. LOL....Calling them back. Thanks for the heads up.
PS we LOVE our sleep number bed. We got the extras with it and I have never slept better! |

I got the 5000 series, it is the most popular model. It is what they call the middle of the road model. I love it!!!
They do have a smaller number series and the 7000 which is like the top of the line. I really didnt like the 7000 series, was way to big, and the 5000 did all the 7000 did. The smaller number one was to little and not much cheaper than the 5000 series. I got the massager and the thing to make the head and feet go up and down. I have a bad back and this is awesome! No more piling up pillows to watch tv either! Lots of times I have to elevate my feet and this is perfect for that as well! I got a queen sized bed, was 1400.00 for the 5000 series. I got the extras which was another 1500.00 but well worth it. We got the 75.00 sleep number pillows too. I have to say those are way better the ones you buy in the stores. I had them and gave em away to use my sleep number pillows. Big difference, they are much softer. IMO, I would go with the 5000 series. The extras are nice, but not really something you have to have. We got free delivery and set up cause we spent so much. But my DH set up his friends in less than a 1/2 hour. That was why we got one. My DH fell in love with his friends bed. PM and I will give all the details I have from my book. |

I totally agree with HappyShopper. I thought the under-5000 models didn't have enough features/quality for the relatively-small price difference. I'm very happy with the 5000 series -- that is, now that we have the pillowtop. I didn't like the extra "squishiness" of it in the store, so we got the non-pillowtop cover initially... only to find the bed surprisingly uncomfortable. So we sprung for another mattress cover and paid the extra $200 to get the pillowtop -- and now we love it! (Anyone out there wanna buy a non-pillowtop cover for a King sized bed? I have one that was only used for 2 weeks!)
Customer service has been absolutely amazing. The "installation" team that executed the free set up was swift and tidy and polite and kind -- even beyond what I could have hoped for. I received several follow-up phone calls from both corporate and the store to make certain I was completely satisfied during my first month. When I had a problem with one air pump, they sent a new one out via UPS next-day at no charge. Really, it has been one of the best retail customer service experiences I've had in years. I *will* say this: do NOT pay full price (like I did). In the last 4 months, I've received at least 3 postcards from Select Comfort saying they're discontinuing the 5000 model. Apparently they've slashed prices dramatically and you could pay half of what I paid. I wish I had saved one of these postcards to share with you! But I didn't know anyone else who was interested in a new bed. You might try calling your local store to see if they'd be willing to provide the phone number to the "warehouse" where they stock discontinued and returned models -- or does anyone reading this have that info? If you do decide to go ahead with a purchase from Select Comfort, please contact someone who already has the bed. They can "refer" you to the company and that person will get some free pillows or a mattress pad or something similar. Someone might as well benefit from your purchase, right? Well, that is, in addition to you -- I think you'll totally benefit from this amazing mattress! Happy sleeping! |

Try it? Like lay on it at the store? Or try it in your home?
Also, doesn't it bother you guys when mattress places let you try the mattress firstat home for a period of time? One mattress I received had a little heart drawn in ink on the mattress tag.... as if someone had made sweet love on it.... yuck.... and then the owner decided to return it [not knowing that his g/f or lover had marked it with a mark of love] - of course I had to return it]... double yuck yuck... just wondering what they do with returned mattresses. |

If the mattress is used, usually the company will tell you right up front. You wouldnt pay for a bed at full price to get a used bed. I watched them unbox all my stuff, so I know no one else used mine. However this is not a typical mattress. It is like an air bed. So removing the mattress cover is all you would really need to do if it was used.
This is an awesome bed! And yes if anyone is buying one, you should use someones name from the board who has one. You get stuff for referring friends. I am working on a bed for my sister who cannot afford one and has a really bad back. But that is alot of referrals away. LOL...I am gonna call and see what the 5000 model is going for. I paid close to 1500.00 for the queen size. Wonder if it went any cheaper and they would adjust my purchase. Thanks for the heads up!
