OT- Where can I find a reasonably priced laptop w/layaway?
I went to Walmart today (2 of them, actually) and all they had was one computer in the 7-800.00 range. I was looking for about half that price. And I definitely need layaway.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Mary |

I doubt you are going to be able to find a laptop in the $350 - 400 range. Even black Friday deals were $600 AFTER rebate. Walmart is the only place that I know that has layaway on laptops.
Maybe you could find a used one on Ebay. That would be a better bet in that price range. Good luck...let us know what you find. Amie |

Did the ebay thing. They're pretty reasonable but the reasonable ones were from newbie sellers.
Walmart.com had some that were in my range but they were available "online only." Does anybody know if Target has layaway? I hardly ever shop there. They're kinda far from where I live. Has anybody had experience with www.layaway.com? They look good, but wondering.... I desperately need one for my new business, presenting powerpoint presentations to business organizations (benefits package). Last edited by Cyberdealer; 02-01-2005 at 09:52 PM. |

I do know that Target does not have layaway. I believe that Walmart is the only one that I have seen that has layaway.

You might want to look at a little bit higher price with the laptops. It's definetely a get-what-you-pay-for sort of deal. You should be able to get a decent product in a laptop for about 7-800.00. You might want to put it on a credit card. My credit card has specials sometimes with very low interest rates for larger purchases. Maybe you could call and ask what they can do for you. But no, Target has never had layaway to my knowledge.

walmart laptop layaway
here whats you do.
order the walmart balance ECS online or get them to shipped it free to the walmart store ordered will cost you 548 with shipping shipping to store is free anyway at store cancel order and place it on layaway walmart has the cheapest laptop on the market with the balance ECS. if you want cheaper go to Sams Clubs, $20-40 cheaper on laptop than walmart but i don't believe they have layaway. i personally went to circuit city, got their credit card and charge two averatec 3500 tablet onto it. the averatec 3500 is the cheapest tablet on the market the reason i got two is this: i save $100 instead of buying a stand alone battery and i save another $200 on not buying a stand alone lcd. plus i can control two serperate laptop with one tablet pen. eventually i'll will buy 2 more lcd to connect to the laptop for my stock market daytrading. 18months interest free. don't forget to get an inline surge protector, they come with phone/ ethernet/ and power protection. always get a second battery you could go to those rent a center place but why pay the high interest save your money for the ecs or averatec 3500 good luck |

extending the time to pay off credit card
after the 18 months interest free is up
just tranfser the balance to another 0% credit card and theh monthly 2% of the balance there is one catch with circuit city 18 month % free is good but your monthly payment is more than 2% of the balance for example 3000 = 140$ a normal credit card 3000 balance = monthly $60 good luck |

Well, I don't have a CC to put it on. That's why I wanted Layaway.
Even if I ordered it online, had it shipped to the store and then cancelled it so I could put it in layaway instead, I'd still have to have a CC anyway to do the original ordering. Guess I'm out of luck, huh?

This is a kind of risky recommendation and it may have been a one time fluke.
But my sister and I just found her a fantastic laptop at a PAWN SHOP. If you're pc saavy and they let you check it out, it might be worth a shot. I was amazed at the things i saw in the pawn shop. |

ok do this
you don't need a credit card
go to walmart ask the electronic department manager to order the 548 balance ecs for you once it comes you put it on layaway 10% down only peice of cake walmart can order anything for you that is available to them if they don't call home office and complain or talk to the store manager first department manager are not eager to order stuff because at times customer change their mind and not pay for it |
