Hi everyone!!
I was wondering if anyone knew of any free summer activites for the kids. I know that Barnes and Nobles has a summer reading program... TRU is doing camp on Saturdays.... AMC use to do Kids packs but I haven't been able to find anything about it this year...(along with the free movies) Does anyone know of anything else? We live in Virginia Beach Virginia if that makes any difference. I couldn't find anything at Borders. Does anyone else have any nifty ideas to keep the kiddos busy? Thanks!! Wendy |

Our library has a summer reading program, where kids get prizes for reading 3 books, 6 books, and so on. They also show videos once a week in a nice big air conditioned room.
Check to see if your library has any programs. Good luck to you, I'm on the same hunt! |

Regal Cinemas offer free G & PG movies twice a week at particpating theatres. They don't have the list of movies up yet but you can check for theatres by state . . .
http://www.regalcinemas.com/freefamilyflicks/index.jsp Build A Bear also has a summer reading program: http://www.buildabear.com/lp/SummerR...=06-05_BABW_US Print the form and return it completed to a store now near you. Books Must be read by July 31, 2005 Read 3 Books and get a coupon Read 3 More and get a free gift from the Grab Bag At the forum I found out about this they report that while they are pushing a "Read Teddy" ($16) you can use the coupon you earn towards any "friend of your choice ". . . One person with two children reported "The coupon is good for any friend $10 or more and it took $5 off each purchase we made." Another lady got a $5 gift card at her store which is nice as it can be used towards accessories instead of another "friend." The gift bag was reported by one person to have the following: terry skirts for bears little Baskin Robbins cones that can elastic onto bear's wrist little teddy bears that also can elastic ontp bear's wrist Maddy |

Yes! The public library always has a summer reading program. You are looking at the champion of all summer reading programs. They also have a good party for the participants at the library at the end of the program. Lots of good food, prizes and activities. So you best check it out...it's very recommended!
Also be on the lookout for cheap dvds and craft sets from clearance sales. Those are good for boredom. I also remember doing those stupid math workbooks, because I was bad at math. So mom you may want to stock up on a skill that your kids are having probelms with. Your kids will thank you when they get accepted into the college of their choice. |

Michael's (craft store) has free things all throughout the year for kids to do. Their program is called The Knack.
http://www.michaels.com/kids-crafts-and-activities When you go to the programs website http://www.theknackkids.com/Home.aspx then it shows you at the bottom what the free family events are, like on July 11th they are making free summer tote bags. |
