Hi, i am making a long distance move and using u-haul. Does anyone know of any codes for u-haul? Or if there aren't any, are there any sites that I can at least earn points per dollar I spend?
It's going to be like 700.00 and i figured I should try anything I can lol

Hi there,
I am not positive if it is UHaul or not, but go into the Post Office and grab a movers package. It has all sorts of coupon's, including a moving company. The package is what you use to notify the PO that you are moving and need an address change.

HTH!!

I'm not fond of them either. I used them for one long distance move (one way) and the truck got to our destination on a hope and promise. I would recommend Budget/Ryder or Penske; they're usually cheaper and their trucks are new. They also beat/match prices of their competitors.

I would NEVER use them again. They rented us a crappy truck which broke down four times on a four hundred mile move. They then refused to give us any amount back. I tell everyone I know how poor their service is.

Refundmommy .. since everyone is telling you how bad they are, I do want to inform you of something. I reserved a UHaul truck for the day that I was moving from VA to NC. I made a deposit with my credit card and was told that I could pick up my truck at 9:00 am the morning of the move. I went to pick it up and they had no truck for me. I was told that they cannot guarantee truck availability, that the reservation was basically a first come first serve kind of thing. I told them that I needed to move that day .. had no choice and they offered no empathy ... ANYTHING!! It caused ALL sorts of problems b/c our money was extremely tight at the time and the credit card that I used for the deposit was actually a check card. They did not release my money until 5 days later and due to the fact that I had to pay for another truck and gas to our new home, food, etc .. we were negative in our bank account because of checks that went through while waiting for them to release my money. Not only did I have to pay more for a different truck, I had to pay $30 for every check that came through and I didn't have the money in my account for (due to their hold). I would definitely recommend Ryder or even Penske .. my mother moved from FL to NC and said that Penske was the cheapest by far and no problems what so ever. I really hope that you can find someone else rather than UHaul. I am not even allowed to say "UHaul" in front of my husband, as it's a "bad word" in my house .. LOL. Good luck!

Go with Ryder! We "rented" a UHaul for our move. Put down the deposit weeks in advance. Showed up bright and early to pick up our truck...guess what? No trucks! Couldn't get one, didn't want to get us one! They were like "So what?" Called Ryder right away who bent over backwards to help us out. Move went smoothly, but then fought with UHaul for months to get our deposit back. DO NOT USE UHAUL!!

Yes. Uhaul sucks. They lied about having a truck and we had to take a smaller one that didn't fit what we needed it for. I already hired movers, so the whole fiasco cost me $500.

Anyway, just get a quote from Budget rental (which is usually a bunch cheaper) and they usually will match it.

I have an even better Uhaul story. We reserved one of their trucks and it also wasn't there when we needed it. However five days later the sheriff was in our yard with a warrant for my hubby that we had never returned their truck. The truck we never got. They tried to charge us for 6 days of use. They did charge it but our credit card com gave it backa fought them for it. Then it showed up on our credit report that we had never paid them. Took about a year to get it off of there. So I certainly wouldn't use them again.

Use one of your charge cards such as Discover and earn a cashback bonus. Or Citibank charge gives 5% so does American Express.

The one thing that makes me crazy is bad customer service - it just stinks when a company doesnt stand behind their products. I hope you all dont mind but I went to uhaul.com and I copied and pasted your comments (with the exception of the first post) and sent it to them. Only your comments no names and no link to this page. They probably wont care (judging from your experiences) however it infuriates me when things like this happen. I just thought it couldnt hurt......
