OT: bad Target experience

I am sorry to rant, but I had to tell everyone this:

I went to Target this morning to redeem my Home Cafe coupon. When I got to the register this is what happened. First the woman said What is this coupon for? I told her the coffee maker. She said, I know that what amount? I told her the 39.99 that it rang up. She called someone else to the register. She told the second woman that I had said the coupon was for the price of the coffee maker and she had never heard of a coupon that large! The second lady then told her to call the manager! He came to the register and read the coupon from front to back and went and got the SAME coffee maker without the coupons in it and said I couldn't get the one with the coupons! I must say they weren't at all friendly about any of this. I have never made a scene in a store in all my life, but I politely told them I had spent a lot of money in that store over the years, BUT I would not be back again. Thanks for reading everyone.

I can't believe they would not let you get the one just because it had coupons in it. Almost all of the time I go to Target it is a great trip. I have only have a few occasions with a "new" coupon that they would not take since they thought it was fake. I would keep trying.

Oh my. I think you should call the corporate office and let them know how you were treated. What a bunch of Jerks. It almost makes me want to tell on them for you.
I am so sorry that this happened, but maybe corporate will help you get them to open their eyes...

By the way, did the one without coupons cost less? It sounds as if the manager thought he would be forced to pay. What a bad CR rep he is.

Thanks for the comments and I think I will contact Corporate. I used to work in retail and we would never have gotten away with something like that. Both coffee makers were the exact same price. I will still shop with Target, just never again at that Target.

Make sure you contact the District Manager and the corporate office. You will get a reaction then. Usually the corporate office just sends you an apology in the mail, I sometimes think they dont read the mail. So I always contact the District manager and the corporate office. As the district manager cares what goes on in his/her district.
I am sorry to hear this as this is something I would expect from walmart, never target!

Good luck, and dont let this slide by. Otherwise they will keep treating customers in this manner.

That sucks that you were treated that way but just so you know, the coupons expired in June. I thought that was crappy.

that's not fair. if the box that came with coupons cost the same, you should be able to get either one. it sounds like he was intentionally condescending.

maybe you can report it at www.planetfeedback.com

Doesn't surprise me. I too suggest Planet Feedback and the BBB if you want.

The next time a target employee (which isn't often...but Have met my share of employees that were terrible) treats you like crap, then tell them that you are going to walmart in the near future instead of them. They will shut up fast. They don't like walmart competition wise. This same thing works for nasty walmart employees...tell them that you are going to target.

Also there is a way to tell if the coupon is void. Void coupons have the word void noticably showing through the copied paper.
They had no right to tell you that were unable to accept your coupon.

I went in yesterday to redeem my home cafe coupon and had no probelms (of course I bought a couple of things or was it a few? lol). But make sure everyone that the coupon is only good for the model "HCC 100". The other ones black and decker and target will not accept as free.

Contact the manufacturer and request a valid one. This is a P&G company--I think that they will send you a new one.
