Hey there folks,
A friend of mine is expecting a little girl in March, and I thought I had plenty of time to get stuff together to make her a diaper cake for her shower. Well I just got an invite and the shower is in the beginning of Jan, yikes! So I'm looking for suggestions for places I can check out to get some affordable little baby items such as pacifiers and other smaller things I can throw on a diaper cake. Any suggestions? Thanks in advanced. T Last edited by tbirdiegirlie; 12-29-2005 at 05:08 PM. |

try walmart. They are fairly cheap, and then the products are still safe to give to the baby. If you use washclothes or towels though, they may be cheaper to get at the dollar store. HTH!

From what I know about a diaper cake (I saw one on an episode of Sex in the City -- I did not get one at my shower or when my son was born) you make a "cake" out of towels and/or diapers. It has more than one tier . . . and you decorate it with small items a baby can use . . . rattles, plastic toys, etc. Here are some links with information and details:
http://www.angelfire.com/id/megnkatesplace/cake.html http://www.howtoadvice.com/Preview/Xuliyu http://www.cakechannel.com/diaper-cake-idea.html http://www.connecticut-weddings.net/...enterpiece.htm I personally do not shop in Walmart but I like the suggestion of the dollar stores . . . perahps some bibs, a rattle, small spoons for when the baby starts to eat . . . Whatever you want can be used ![]() Good luck. Maddy |

I'lll post a pic of it when I'm done, but I ended up gathering stuff from Target and Walmart. I couldn't find anything useful at the dollar store. In hindsight, I think I could have gotten some cute decorations at a party store, but oh well.
The cakes are easy to make, although time consuming. I'm sure the instructions I used are on one of those sites previously posted. T |

not difficult, but time consuming.
I absolutely love making them, I wish I was knew enough and was organized enough to sell them online, I just love the finished product ![]() I am able to get most of the stuff off of people's registry so they are still getting the gifts they want, how cute :D |
