OT: Get Amazon GC@coinstar machines

Please forgive if this is common knowledge for you guys because it was new news for me and I just wanted to share!

Just read on the Coinstar website that you can redeem your change for gift cards. When you do this they do not charge a coin counting fee. Some of the cards available are: Amazon, Linens'n things, borders, pier one imports, hollywood video and starbucks. The cards are also reloadable! Im always complaining that my hubby empties his pockets and the change ends up piling up and dropping on the floor, no I will encourage him to empty those pockets!! Here is the link you can read more for yourself and locate and machine close to you and what it gives (mine only does amazon but hey Im happy with that)

Thanks for the info Melaniac. I have several machines near me but they all give the same thing...Amazon or Mastercard debits.

Fortunately, I belong to a bank that still counts our coins for free. If I didn't have this I'd definitely go the Amazon route.

DH did this at a coinstar machine at Osco. I was shocked - he had enough change for a $50 gc! I'm glad that he didn't have to pay the coinstar fee since he got the gc.

go to the coinstar website and search for location near you. That will tell you what the machine gives.

Awesome! I hated the fact that they wanted to charge me for my own money. Now I can just get a GC w/ no charge! THANKS!

I did do the search for the location near me, and what I'm seeing is

Coin Counting
Non-Profit Organizations
Payroll Balance Inquiry and Wage Statement

so would this mean no amazon?

If you use the Advance Seach, you can actually find the ones that do Amazon under Select a Product, then eCertificates, then Amazon.com Gift Certificates.

OMG! Banks are charging to count change?!? When did that bs start? Ours has a machine they dump 'em in, and it takes about 5 seconds for it to count everything--no charge. I wouldn't do business with a bank that charged me to deposit money.
