Thanks, OP, a good reminder to all to prepare for the hypothetical "rainy" day which nowadays means so many different threats.

Off the top, here's some info. About 4 years ago there were great deals on Brillo, SOS sponges and Lysol so that I haven't needed to buy any and gave many away. We should be good for another two years and of course when there are free deals on sponges (about 6 per year) I restock.

Dittos with shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorants, pantiliners, Skintimate/Noxema shaving cream, aspirin, band-aids, vitamins, and Dove facial products and I continue to buy new products that are free/almost.

Cleaning supplies such as Soft Scrub, Scrubbing Bubbles wipes, Glass Plus bottles and wipes, generic swiffer/pledge grab-its products, batteries

Also paper plates, cups, and Ziploc/Dixie containers; dog and cat treats.
There were also many summer sales+coupons on beverages such as Propel, Glaceau waters, V-8 Frusion, Starbucks and Santa Cruz organic juices. I loaded up on those.

MIL works for major make-up company and she keeps me stocked with everything I need and gets products before they are released. I only "buy" make-up at drugstores when it is free.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I can't imagine the pain and post traumatic stress. But, you definitely have something that can't be taken or stolen -- your priorities of what matters most. It's made you so much stronger and you are a true survivor. Thanks for the reminder to us. And we have these things too for neighbors and those in need. It's another way of getting companies to "donate" too.

Wink

Stockpiles...hmmm...never heard of such a thing. <giggle> I guess the big one is the 119 2-liters of Diet Coke in the basement...all free from the Coke 5/2L coupons. I still have 4 coupons to use by tomorrow. Lol...I have two 1-gallon ziplocs full of red caps to enter online from what we've guzzled down already.

thanks but I do need to clarify, I was lucky.. my trailer didn't get flooded.. tho the flood took out over 6 feet by 8 ft of land!!!! and swept away all the
trailers .. aluminum stuff.. (gawd, I can't speak! ) that wraps around the trailer.

The fire, got within one mile of my apt.. but had to stay w/ friends, for a wk.. no electricity.. and smoke horrid..

Had to wade thru the flood, to rescue my babies.. almost knee deep..
shock to come home and to park uphill at neighbors, and all the lawn flooded.. and flowing.. SCARY!!! past the barn and down the lane..
drove the water.. that was in nc.. moved.. and lol, 3 wks, after I got in sd..

Fire.. drove thru backroads.. freeway closed.. Major freewayS CLOSED.. this was the firestorm in San Diego.. drove thru smoke, flames/fires in mtns and right by road to again rescue, the babies!!
I didn't even know where I was, in my own small village!!! No electricity, smoky.. had to stop someone who was fleeing.. no One.. in my apt complex.. totally deserted...(I'd been away all day, 2 hrs north, at a motivational seminar, didn't even know how bad it was!! ).. loooooooong story..

very eerie.. but I was lucky!! and i had my emercency bags already packed and cat supplies.. can't tell you how much that helped!!

Note:REmeber electricity goes out.. and you can't use your credit cards!!!
Soo many people were really really stuck, bc they had No cash on them!!
American Express checks are the best!!!

Interesting year!!

cherlyn made me laugh too.. and 119 bottles of coke.. fREE??
sigh, I soooooooo missed out on that deal..

Love coke.. and where the heck do you store all those?

do you know, in wintertime, when people hear of snow storms and stock up , at the last minute.. they don't care if you're out of bread, eggs, milk..
but out of coke or pepsi and they'll start shooting!! lol
