Is Macys giving away $10 coupons/gcs this Saturday?
My mom called to tell me about this but I haven't heard anything. She thought it was nation-wide (not locally) but I'm wondering about it because she lives 3 hours from me and her Famous-Barr store was just converted (bought by) to a Macys, so maybe it's only to celebrate this particular new store "opening"? Anyone know?

I live in suburban Chicago. Macy's bought Marshall Field's last year, and all of the Field's stores are officially becoming Macy's stores as of September 9. I saw a sign in our local store this morning saying that they are giving out gift certificates this Saturday, but I thought the sign said that the GCs could be used that day only.

I think it's for ALL Macy's! It's on Saturday Sept. 9 & the first 500 customers to walk into the store will get the $10 gift card (from what my friend told me).

Stores open at 9am. Be one of the first 500 customers at any Macy's First floor mall or main entrance on Sat., September 9th and get a free $10 gift card. One of the gift cards will be for $1000.
Good Luck and Happy Shopping!! (This was taken from the Macys site... Macys.com |

Just came back from the macy's grand opening.
Yes they opened at 9AM and yes I was one of the 500 that got a macy's gc (only $10 one). They served cake, donut holes, sparkling apple juice, coffee and they had some of their "macy's H20" (bottled water) too. The field's (including field gear) stuff is all marked down, Lots of it are in the $10-30 price range-they want to get rid of this label. I found a clairborne dress shirt for .47 cents after gift card. They are still selling frango chocolates. I don't know how long. PS: Fyi for chicago shoppers, the carson pierie scott loop location is now gone. The fields on state street is now a macy's. It looks like they broke an agreement or something (I think) and there will be no more good holiday window displays on state street.

gigdetmidget...I was born and raised in Chicago and still can not believe there is no more Marshall Fields! I live in New York now and when I went to Chicago to visit this summer I bought some platters and the Marshall Fields cookbook just so I could have something to remember.
For those of you not from Chicago, every family goes to the Fields store on State Street to look at the Christmas windows. And if your lucky enough you go inside and see Santa and have lunch there as well. Don't get me started on their chocolates...Frango Mints. Waaahaaa!! |
