Question/vent about Bath & Body Works

I went to bath and body works and they had Wexler lipgloss for $17.50 OR 2 for $20. I got two since it was 2 for $20 and then I had a $10 off any Wexler item coupon. The cashier said that I could only have the sale price OR use the coupon, but not both. So then he rang up my coupon and it was $30 for two lipglosses with my coupon. I told him that I didn't think that it should cost more with a coupon and he waved the coupon in my face that you can't combine the coupon with any other coupons or discounts. I got so mad that I left the store without buying anything! I left my whole basket of stuff! Anyone know if he was full of it?! Is it really their policy to not allow coupons with sales? I was really surprised because I was buying a lot of stuff too.

I used mine today... same scenario and didn't have a problem at all... Try another Bath and Body works... then complain to corporate! Believe me! I am such an email complainer.. anyone pisses me off I send an email. I have gotten more discounts and free crap for venting to corporate! I don't do it for that reason, but if I have a real complaint I send it off.

I am not a b**ch or anything I just get tired of people who make minimum wage thinking they rule the word and can push me around. It amazes me when you are in a store and the sales person "thinks" they are right, then they get such an attitude with you for no reason! Don't get me wrong if I get one first then I understand, but I never do that. I am sick of it!!! It would have been so hard for me to let him wave the coupon in my face without me wanting to smack him. You where smart for walking out! Seriously go to a different one if you can! Let me know how it turns out -Nicole

I've never had a problem using coupons with sale items. May have just been that associate.

I have a part-time retail job, and honestly, rather than arguing with a customer and putting myself in a bad mood, I usually just give it to them. Unless it's something they obviously are wrong about, I usually don't argue, and then just tell my boss about it afterwards. It seriously saves a lot of trouble, and keeps everyone in a better mood. My boss agrees. Better to keep the customer happy than have them complain about us to corporate.

Try e-mailing them

I had the same problem I was pissed and left the basket. I got home and e-mailed them, well 2 weeks later I got a coupon for $25.00.

So e-mail them worked for me!

I won't go to Bath & Body Works anymore for that same reason, always have trouble with their coupons. I don't know why they publish coupons if they don't want you to use them.

i don't even get his math. 2 x 17.50 = 35.00. then minus the 10.00 coupon is 25.00 not 30.00. or are they normally 20.00 each?

Angry

I used to get their coupons in my email and in my mailbox alot. Now they won't send them to me anymore. I tried complaining to corporate-No dice. I don't think they really care anymore. so I don't go to BBW that much anymore--The customer service regarding coupons and limits spent in order to get a free item is just plain awful.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I will call customer service about this and let you know what happens. I will not shop at that location anymore! The cashier's logic just did not make any sense and there was no need to waive coupon like he did. Thanks again for letting me know that I am not crazy - you really can use coupons with sale items!

I've gotten to the point that if I want something from their store I just order it online. The general behavior of the people that seem to work there is too snoby for me. I really don't like being followed around the store either. You aren't the first or last person to have a problem with the help there. LOL

Just to give a different scenario, today I went to Kohls'. It was about 10 minutes after the early bird was over and I made a comment that I wish I had been there earlier because there was an item I wanted and the exrra 15%off sale was over. The cashier told me to go get the item, come back through her line and she would still give me the discount. It turned out to be about $9 discount so I said, ok. By the time I got back to her it was about 20min past the end of the sale, and I asked if she would get into trouble for doing this. She told me not to worry about it, so I got the 15% plus I had a 10% off coupon too.

While I was in line the lady behind me asked the cashier if she could use my 10% off coupon (sent to me in the mail - in my credit card statement) and she let her use my coupon.

Dont these places realize that we base our decisions about where to shop on the way we are treated. Some stores have great prices (walmart) but I wont go their because of the way they treat people.

I agree, send an email or call. I have done that before and have had good success.

My BBW is the same way--you get a hassle, they are snotty and they frown upon my 5yr old being in there(in the mean time she probably gets the majority of what I buy anyway..we love the banana kids soap pump and the American Girls stuff....I have been onlining too--I agree with the customer service crap-I worked retail for over 20yrs,including management, and by God if you even looked at customer wrong they were on the phone with corporate---customers are always right, and now that I am just a customer I exercise my right of contacting corporate everytime I feel slighted--on a side note, our walmart is the worst group of nasty crabby I dont wanna be here cashiers Ive ever encountered--I never go there except to use my internet coupons since no one takes them anymore--and then I use self checkout so I dont have to look at anyone until they come to verify...I LOVE SELF CHECKOUT(especially because the computer at least "thanks you for shopping at walmart")
