Linens n Things Liquidating!
I just saw the following AP report in the newspapers:
NEW YORK—Specialty retailer Linens 'n Things, which filed for bankruptcy protection in May, plans to begin liquidation sales at its stores as early as Thursday after failing to find a buyer that wanted to operate the company. "It's a straight going-out-of business liquidation sale," said James Schaye, president and chief executive of Hudson Capital Partners, one of the members of the investment group buying the company's assets. He expects the process for the company's approximately 371 remaining store locations will take about 11 weeks. So I guess we can look forward to finding some mark-downs in the weeks ahead! |

My Linen n' Things sale wasn't great. By the time the good sales had started, things were too picked over.

The Linens n Things at Shoppers World in Framingham, MA just put up a large sign in their window: Store Liquidation 10%-30% off.

ALL stores are affected -- liquidators took control of the stores on Friday, so coupons are no longer accepted, all sales are final, and you can't pay by check. Some markets may have some stores that began shutting down months ago (and may now be at, say, 60% off) and have other stores across the city that are just beginning their liquidation (and therefore will be discounting at 10-30% starting this weekend). Some stores have been quicker than others in posting liquidation info and discounted pricing signage but sadly, all locations are involved in this final liquidation.
If you have any items that you bought BEFORE Thursday, you can still return/exchange them if you act quickly. I hate to lose LNT! I've really appreciated having a choice between LNT and BB&B! |

I think I will wait awhile and see if it goes more than 30%- that's not much better than with a coupon and I think if they are liquidating they need to mark it down a lot more and get rid of it. Of course I know most things will be gone but I will take my chances. I hate to see it go, too.
