Angry walmart

Just to let you know, Walmarts in our area will no longer accept computer generated coupons. They will only accept coupons in newspapers or sent from the company. We all should protest about this. I did.

Most of the stores in our area have been doing this for quite some time due to fraud issues. It's such a hassle to get a manager to the checkout every time you use one that I no longer even print them out. Instead I just e-mail the company offering the coupon and tell them and they frequently just send a coupon in the mail.

That's against their published corporate coupon policy which states they will accept internet coupons:
http://walmartstores.com/7655.aspx

Wal-Mart Coupon Policy

Wal-Mart accepts the following types of coupons (see guidelines below):

Manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)
Free merchandise (or manufacturer's Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons
Store coupons
Pharmacy (Advertising and Promotional) coupons
Internet coupons
Soft drink container caps
The following are guidelines and limits:

Wal-Mart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase.
Coupons should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates. Wal-Mart will not accept expired coupons.
Internet coupons should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon." There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and a scannable bar code.
Only one coupon per item is permitted.
Use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by Customer Service Manager.

I suggest you print out that page from their corporate website & show it to your store manager.

Complaining may or may not resolve the problem -- when ours refused to take them any longer, I called the 1-800 WalMart number to ask about it (I saw the policy online too) and was told it's up to the discretion of each individual store manager I asked about the policy online, and the woman from the main office said again, that's at the discretion of each manager to follow if he or she wants to

I'd think they'd all have to follow a corporate policy, but apparently that's up in the air.

I ran into this problem at a Wal-Mart this weekend. Don't they realize that in this computer age, it's in their best interest to honor computer-generated coupons? I will definitely go elsewhere to purchase an item with a coupon.

That's just nuts. I'm guessing you spoke to an operator or C/S rep, I would go to their corporate site & find a specific person to address your letter to - director of P.R., etc., that sort of thing. (If you can't find names & titles on their website, you could try calling their headquarters & asking for the name of, for example, the director of PR.) The policy is on their corporate website and doesn't give wiggle room as to whether store managers have discretion to not adhere to it.

Watch your local newspapers and magazines for pages with blank white sections , regular stuff on the other side , tape it to a piece of printer paper and print your coupon on it . Play with your ink tones to get it close to the papers print .No law that says it has to be printed on new bright white printer paper , if they assume its from a mag or news paper who are we to argue?
I Neither confirm or deny that I have done this before .

My local Walmart stopped taking internet coupons years ago due to fraud and I know that their policy states they do take them but I'm not going to fight them about it. It's just not worth it to me.

I hate Walmart, never go there unless I just absolutely have to. Kroger gladly excepts my printables!
