? About emailing companies for coupons...
Has anyone noticed companies aren't willing to send coupons for money off their products anymore? I don't know if it's just my luck but I'm really sick of some of these coupons and their "attitudes" and lack of customer service.I've been experiancing some horrible customer service lately and one company made it right after I emailed the coorperate office to complain. But, I emailed Venus asking for a coupon so I could save a little money on razor blades since they're costly in general. I haven't seen coupons for ones I use in the flyers and thats where they directed me after I told them I couldn't find the ones wanted to purchase in the flyer. I hate when companies see it as complaining and give a "sales lecture" on pricing and such when you say you'd like to save some money since you use 2 of their products all the time and the cost adds up for blades.
![]() So, has anyone seen good face value coupons on venus blades and not ones where you need to purchase a razor and blades or a new razor.I just want to save on refills with a decent coupon since blades are 18-25.00 generally for 4 of them. Last edited by luvbunnies42; 06-23-2009 at 11:10 PM. |

I purchase my blades in bulk on ebay and save a ton- just be sure to check their feedback.
Also, Microsoft Cashback is still in effect (Bing) - it's at 8% right now. Last edited by ariel30; 06-23-2009 at 11:29 PM. |

I never even think about ebay for these kinds of things! HOLY MOLY... I just got a killer deal on some refills for my sister! I am always sending her my freebies that I don't use, so I just sent her some really cheap refills for the ones she loves! I got some of those Shick Intuition ones! I did see some sellers selling the freebie ones that came in the mail though. I don't know why that bugs me, but it does. LOL! I usually give away free things I won't use.

Whether I send a complaint or a compliment, I've been very fortunate when requesting coupons. And even gotten some free product coupons.
Although the one company that I felt gave me a really cocky in your face response was Pepsi Cola company when I emailed about my displeasure about the 8pack conversion. They said they did it for the customers...BS! |

coupons are great, but companies price their products at what they want us to pay. why is anyone entitled to get coupons just b/c they want to save money??? We all want to save money. But they dont have to send or print coupons for ANYONE.

just like why companies give out free samples...it is good marketing. And good customer service if a customer requests some...because odds are if you buy the product or get the product for free, you'll buy it some more.
I wrote to the makers of ALL detergent when I was so pleased w/their ALL&mighty concept. A smaller bottle of more concetrated detergent meant less lifting heavy bottle of detergent for me. They responded back w/a big thankyou by sending me 6 coupons for FREE bottles !! I was estatic. Here's a different scenario.. I wrote Crest regarding their kids toothpaste. They have some flavor that I can't even describe the smell or taste. It is disgusting in our opinion. Becca hated it..and I didn't like her breath after brushing. I told them that, and I told them I really prefer Colgate mild mint toothpaste for kids now. They responded back w/a thick envelope w/a letter expressing they were sorry to hear about my disappointment in their product...and to please acccept the other company product coupons (P&G). That was a nice surprise. |

My experience is like Emmey's - whether I'm writing with a compliment or a complaint, or even a question, many times I'll get coupons. One time recently I wasn't happy with Downy, it was all clumpy in the bottle. I didn't know how old it was (Dad didn't want it). I wrote to ask if it was okay to use and told them it might be old, also gave them the production codes. They did say it was very old, but still sent a nice coupon.
Another good coupon was for Aleve - the bottle I bought was very difficult even for me to open, yet the product was advertised for arthritis patients. But, when I write to ask for a coupon, particularly on behalf of my dad or my bf's mom (seniors, fixed income, etc), I don't get a high rate of response, much less coupons. Still, I'm happy & grateful for the coupons I do get. |

Coupons are a way for them to capture more people because they allow the company to attract the people who would otherwise consider the product to cost too much. For example, a 12 pack of Coke is normally around $4 in my area, but I usually don't want to pay more than $3, so I wait for it to come on sale before buying it. If Coke provides a coupon, I'm likely to buy Coke when it's at $4 and AGAIN when it comes on sale. Coke still makes a profit off me, and in fact sells twice as much to me. Furthermore, Coke prevents me from buying Pepsi if it happens to be cheaper. If I wait to use my coupon until it comes on sale, they may not sell as much to me, but it's highly likely that they are still making a profit. Since the majority of coupon users will often only buy specific luxury items if they have a coupon for them, the company has plenty of incentive to provide coupons to increase sales. Richer folks will use coupons far less frequently, so the company doesn't run much risk of losing on the proposition. Then there's the question of brand loyalty. When Luvbunnies doesn't get a coupon for the razor she likes, she's far more likely to decide to pick up cheap disposable razors or switch to a different brand - this is intensified by the fact that she now thinks the company doesn't really care about keeping her as a customer anyway. When Emmey gets 6 free bottles of ALL, the company has guaranteed that she is going to use that brand for the next 6 months or so, creating a high likelihood that she is going to switch forever. Even better - she may choose to give some free ALL to other people she knows, getting -them- to try (and hopefully like) the detergent. Whether or not you get coupons probably depends on whether or not the customer service representative who answers your inquiry understands the value of coupons to the company. If they think they're only doing you a favor, and they don't realize that they're also doing the company a favor, then they're more likely to get on their high horse and decide you're not "entitled" to a coupon. They don't realize they're making a huge mistake by not providing one. |

Thanks for responding everyone. I'm on vacation so I didn't get to respond intil now. But, I just read all the responses. I guess it really does vary based on the rep and company. I never thought of Ebay. When I get back from the beach I'll have to look. I checked amazon but the prices were still pretty high. Ebay comes in handed especially with mypoints and other companies like them.

If you're looking to purchase coupons, you can do so from many sites, including http://www.taylortownpreview.com/ (at roughly 10% of the value of the coupon). I've never done it, so I can't vouch for them. There were threads in the past about this, maybe you can search and find them, or just check out couponing sites. (BTW, someone here once posted that you're not really buying the coupon, you're paying for a clipping service or a handling fee, so perhaps search those words in the coupon forum.)
